  • CVT plus turbo lag = poor performance - 2017 Honda CR V
    By -

I really liked everything about the 2017 CRV, materials, comfort, safety features etc. That was until I did a test drive. On the street it felt heavy and somewhat underpowered. On the freeway, it was really bad. The midrange power and torque is really inadequate. If I wanted to speed up, I would press the accelerator and the SUV would start to accelerate but then the CVT "upshifted a gear". I would then have to press the gas pedal further but the same problem would recur again and again. There is no sport mode to make the CVT hold a "gear". This was really bad. The sales person also admitted that theres always a delay with the CVT which is then aggravated by turbo lag plus the CVT always moving "up a gear" making the engine bog down. Great for mileage, bad for driving. My driving is between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, as well as Los Angeles to Mammoth, so there are hills, steep grades and passing. So this SUV is not suitable for my driving conditions and style.

  • Honda CR-V 2017 Plagued with TPMS issues - 2017 Honda CR V
    By -

I would not advise purchasing the vehicle. It is so new that dealerships do not know how to repair issues with the car. I have taken my car for the same TPMS issue that has occurred 5 times and they are still unable to fix the issue. Now I am stuck waiting for a specialist to come out within 1-2 weeks with one day warning to get my car into the dealership. They have replaced all my tires and admit to not knowing what is going on. The dealership now says it is between me and corporate honda. corporate honda is unwilling to provide me a loaner car. Even though tpms is required by law.

  • Just ok, maybe. - 2017 Honda CR V

This car would probably be fine for me for short, (less than 15 min. trips). The drivers seat becomes very hard after sitting on it for any length of time. Wife drove down to Montgomery, Ala. this wkend and averaged 31.7 mpg @ 75 mph. I guess this is ok for an awd, although it would be nice if that 1.5 turbo was a little less thirsty. This seems to be a quality built vehicle, and it does drive quite nice. The front seats however, are terrible. I also am unimpressed with the audio sound. Honda should have a high-end system in the ex-l. In summary, Im glad this is my wife car and not mine.

  • Totally disappointed with CRV-EX-L - 2017 Honda CR V

The CRV uses more gas than expected. I am getting 27 miles/gallon in econo mode which leaves me with low power. Getting on the freeway in econo mode takes time but I dont want to have gas mileage lower than that. The gas tank is very small. When gas is getting low, you get a low fuel message and cant see how many miles you have left on the tank. The controls on the screen are impossible to see especially when the sun is shining on the touch screen. Sometimes it goes dim and you cant see the controls to change the AC or entertainment system at all. Or what they call an entertainment system. No CD player at all! The radio doesnt even play local stations that my 10- year old car played fine. The FM goes in and out and is really useless. You have to pay for Sirius to get any stations. But why pay for commercials?? The car is not worth the price I paid for it. I wish I had test driven it longer and checked out the controls better. If you use the USB for example to play a book, the order in which it plays does not follow the order of the book. It is ridiculous. Update: Several months later, still feel the same about not being impressed at all and do not recommend buying a 2017 CRV.

  • Honda of America could care less about you - 2017 Honda CR V

I purchased a CRV Touring in March. I selected the Honda over the RAV4, for the safety technology. On the first day of ownership, the "safety" systems failed (adaptive cruise control, crash mitigation, and lane departure) while driving down a country road. What happens, is that the warning lights start to go off, and then all of these systems are shut off until the car is turned off and restarted. This problem has occurred on country roads, in a major city, at highway speeds and on residential streets. I have had this failure at least once every week I have owned the CRV. Some weeks it has failed 5-6 times. The vehicle was serviced 3 times in the first 7 weeks of ownership, including 2 attempts by a Honda technician, but they were not able to determine the problem. The technician wants to blame the problem on country roads, even though the failures have happened in city traffic as well. I am now in mediation with Honda, but they wont replace the car. They want to buy my car back because they are concerned that another CRV will have the same problem. In other words, Honda doesnt have confidence that their "safety" systems will work in the country. My dealer has been great, but Honda of America customer service has been terrible. My mediation case manger doesnt call me back, or follow-up on anything she said she will do. Other than this issue, I really like the vehicle, but Honda has made it clear to me that they dont value their customers.

  • 2017 CR-V is a lemon - 2017 Honda CR V

Three transmissions in less than 6000 miles. Now the Bluetooth suddenly stopped working. Car has a high pitched whine upon acceleration only when the air conditioning is on. This was not the case until after the third transmission was installed but Honda Service says nothing is wrong. I cant trust this vehicle to travel more than a few miles from home.
